Therapeutic Massage

A mixture of techniques combined to release physical tension and create overall homeostasis, alleviating chronic pain and stress.

Neuromuscular

Soft tissue manipulation that aims to treat underlying causes of chronic pain involving the muscular and nervous systems. This medically-oriented form of massage addresses biomechanical problems that can be caused by repetitive movement injuries.

Myo-Fascial Release

Manual massage technique that to release adhered fascia and muscles with the goal of eliminating pain, increasing range of motion. Usually involves applying shear compression or tension in various directions, cross fiber friction or by skin rolling.

Trigger Point

Deactivation of trigger points that may cause local pain or refer pain and other sensations, such as headaches, in other parts of the body. Manual pressure, vibration, or other treatment is applied to these points to relieve myofascial pain.

Pre-Natal

Therapeutic bodywork that focuses on the special needs of the mother-to-be as her body goes through the dramatic changes of pregnancy. It enhances the function of muscles and joints, improves circulation and general body tone, and relieves mental and physical fatigue.

Manual Lymph Drainage​

A technique used to gently work and stimulate the lymphatic system, to assist in reduction of localized swelling. For the purpose of improving waste removal and immune function.

Deep Tissue

Massage technique that’s mainly used to treat musculoskeletal issues, such as strains and injuries. It involves applying sustained pressure using slow, deep strokes to target the inner layers of your muscles and connective tissues.

Acupressure

An alternative medicine technique similar in principle to acupuncture. It is based on the concept of life energy which flows through “meridians” in the body. In treatment, physical pressure is applied to acupuncture points with the aim of clearing blockages in these meridians.

Reflexology
(hands, feet, ears, etc..)

Alternative medicine involving application of pressure to one place on the body to effect another such as the feet and hands with specific techniques without or minimal use of oil or lotion. It is based on a system of zones and reflex areas that purportedly reflect an image of the body on the feet and hands, effecting a physical change to the body.

Neuro-Lymphatic Massage

Reflexes involving the lymphatic, muscular, and nervous system that when stimulated have a beneficial change in body function if it has become previously rundown. Addressing these reflexes can have a significant and magical effect in regenerating health.

Neurovascular Holds

Neurological switches, primarily on the head that when activated release blood flow to the muscles and related organs and glands.

Spinal Vertebrae Reflex

Reflexes along the spinal column stimulating the nervous system to specific muscles.

Swedish Massage

This technique, varies from light to vigorous, using five styles of strokes. The five basic strokes are effleurage (sliding or gliding), petrissage (kneading), tapotement (rhythmic tapping), friction (cross fiber or with the fibers) and vibration/shaking.

Touch for Health

A proprietary form of applied kinesiology designed for lay people, which incorporates acupressure, sound, diet, muscle testing and massage.

Craniosacral

Bodywork that uses gentle touch to palpate the synarthrodial joints of the cranium. It is based on the a concept of the physiology of the human skull and is promoted as a cure for a variety of health conditions.

Reiki; Certified
(Usui/Tibetan Reiki Ryoho)​

Channeled energy administered through light touch and non-touch therapy. Typical English translation from the Japanese is, ‘Universal Life-energy’. Mrs Takata described it as ‘God-Power’.

Chakra Therapy

16 gold plated copper coils (Nickola Tesla patented technology) placed on the seven chakra hands and feet while the recipient lies, still meditating or resting for a 1hr session.

1/root, 2/sacral, 2/solar plexus, 2/heart, 2/thought, 2/third-eye, 1/crown, 2/hands, 2/feet

Crystal Healing

Placement of crystal on and around a person to help shift the individual energy field.

Chair Massage

Originally developed as a marketing tool for massage, allow easy access to the head, shoulders, and back of a massage recipient.

Hot Stone

Thermo-therapy using smooth stones, heated at around 50 degrees Celsius, to perform more easily a deep tissue massage. It usually starts like a traditional Swedish massage. Then, stones are rubbed over your oiled body.
